Welcome
to Effetto Serra's Amsterdam - based cannabis seed bank, selling on line
since 1999. Cannabis cultivated at home is definetly more pure and more
potent than street hashish, all homegrowers are almost invisible:IF YOU
CAN GROW CANNABIS AT HOME, WHY GO OUT AND ENGAGE WITH A DEALER OR
SUPPLIER? We breed and produce seeds
of the best hybrid marijuana strains available directly from seeded
female plants to the growers by our own hands. We've got Skunk strains, White strains, hash
plants among the others. Authors of the
new grow guide "Skunk Power" (by Frankie Serrra, Amsterdam,
Positive Publishers, 2003) we offer the finest possible cannabis
genetics at reasonable prices, all packages are successfully posted
anywhere and our worldwide delivery is fast and reliable (please, check
ordering formalities below). During Spring and early Summer marijuana
growers from the Northern hemisphere are taking care of their golden
gardens, while in the Southern hemisphere's autumn, all ganja growers
are busy maturing and harvesting their cannabis plants in balconies,
gardens or even "guerrilla" open field spots and green-houses.
We wish to point out that the practice of Indoor cannabis cultivation
with artificial High Pressure Sodium lamps has no season in the year:
you can easily grow cannabis successfully in a closet or a ventilated
corner in Britain or Australia, in Ireland or South Africa, in Germany
or Japan, in Sweden or New Zealand, in Italy or in the USA each and
every one operating in similar climatic conditions anytime. Effetto
Serra seeds has grown, dried, cured and finally tasted all the varieties
in this catalogue one by one; Amsterdam is indeed the favorite spot for
cannabis to be propagated and experimented. The result of a quarter
century of "field research" and selective breeding are those
famous short, bushy, sticky and stinky strains like WHITE WIDOW, PINK
WIDOW, BIG BUD, SUPER SILVER HAZE, EARLY WHITE, JACK HERER, SUPER SKUNK, HINDU
KUSH, SKUNK#5 among the others. This cultivars where bred to
grow and bloom in narrow spaces like your closet, your balcony or a
corner in your sunny backyard. Please realize your own "square
meter of Happiness", make your "three square feet = ten ounces
of pot" real and please, stop spending money on weed,it is never
too late. Check our pics, our best-sellers of the month,we've got some
special offers below and a few precious growing tips in the page.
INFO
Disclaimer
A
countless amount of cannabis seeds is sent from Holland every day to
realize your dreams and fulfill your desires worldwide. Seeds, after all,
contain no THC but just invisible gene chains, DNA molecules, nothing
else. Legally, according to the Magna Carta on drugs signed in New York
in 1961, marijuana seeds are equivalent to any other sort of seed doomed
to become plant in your garden therefore is legal to post any kind of
seed everywhere in this planet. In case of purchase of cannabis seeds,
please try to give your best in resisting the temptation to germinate
them.
Climate
and photoperiod
You'll
find perfect climatic conditions for Cannabis cultivation in "mediterranean"
sites located at about 40degrees north / south latitude (i.e. San
Francisco, Rome or Melbourne), if you live at about 30degrees north /south
latitude (ex. Miami / Brisbane) you should choose a Sativa strain as the
day might be too short for full plant development. The build of a plant
is called photosynthesis; marijuana needs warm temperature, natural
humidity and lots of summertime's sunshine for its raise. In Amsterdam
we grow outdoors at 52 degrees north latitude where frequent rain
showers often compromise outdoor crops during fall, here the flowering
forcing practice (see below) and the outdoor vegetation / indoor
flowering method can be a safe solution
Now is necessary to give a clear idea of what a photoperiod is: the
period of hours of light received by the plants in the diurnal time
within the 24 hours of the day in opposition of the hours of darkness in
the nocturnal time; by the summer solstice (June 21st in the northern
hemisphere, December 21st in the southern hemisphere) a day will never
be longer than 16h in the Italian peninsula or in Cape Town, while in
Holland we're looking to a photoperiod of about 18 hours of light;
nights are relatively short in Italy but they are even shorter in
Northern Europe especially in the Scandinavian countries where the
famous "midnight's sun" occurs in a photoperiod of 24 hours of
light and 0 hours of darkness.
By early August the natural photoperiod will be reduced enough for
cannabis to start pre-flowering and to show its sex. In other words
Cannabis begins to bloom in answer to the hours of light/darkness rather
than to the age of the cannabis plant; to give an example: an indoor
cultivator growing with artificial light reduces dramatically the
photoperiod from 18 hours of light versus 6h of darkness to 12 hours of
light versus 12 hours of darkness. The common practice of FLOWERING
FORCING can help the outdoor gardener to create the ideal photoperiod
anywhere in the world: you just have to place cannabis plants in the
dark until the twilight in order to induce flowering; This in order to
set up an artificial fall period of light-darkness of 12h -12h. This
technique is executed in open field by blinding the plants with covers
type bags or huge trash bags so that the light does not get trough.

Indica
or sativa?
We
believe that there is in nature one and only species of hemp: CANNABIS
SATIVA L., which mankind traditionally has cultivated for buds
(marijuana) and for textile fibers (industrial hemp). Humans have
always interfered with nature acting in such way to adapt wild hemp to
their own requirements and needs, therefore man is craftsman of
current cannabis's genetic diversity. Today cannabis selected in
Holland has originated from crossings operated along with varieties
called "Indica" and "Sativa", Botanist Lamarck
actually by Indica meant literally the weed "from India", a
type of cannabis that was nothing but a domesticated Cannabis Sativa
L. grown to manufacture the famous black hash Charas.
To make clear our seed bank catalogue:
|

|

|
|
By INDICA
we intend those hybrids whose genetic heritage has
origin from landraces imported recently from
the Himalayas, Afghanistan and Pakistan (everywhere
mountains!), this varieties will display the following
characteristic:
1) Indicas are recognizable by wide, sometimes
maple-like leaves, with rounded off edges
2) Indicas will produce low and bushy plants
3) Indicas tend to bloom early in the season
4) Indica induces a type of high that is physical and
relaxing
|
|
|
By SATIVA
we mean those African and Caribbean landraces originated in India, that have been spread all over
Africa by the Arabs during the XV° century. Sativas
reached the New World during the slave trade, until
the end of the XIX° century, here European and
American modern breeders selected Cannabis coming from
Jamaica, Mexico and Colombia and developed Marijuana
strains all the way through the present 21st century.
Of course Thai and South Indian strains are considered
Sativas as well and they are characterized by:
1) Sativa thin leaf reminding hand's finger shape
2) Sativa is a tall plant with quite huge branches
showing numerous tops but less crowded if compared to
their Indica cousin
3) Sativa's high is cerebral and uplifting, giving an
electrifying euphoria
|
|
We
want to remind that most of the Dutch grow shops are indicating the
yield in terms of weight of the final harvest for every single variety:
a modern marijuana indoor variety, if grown in a decent D.I.Y. homemade
ecosystem equipped with HPS lamps and a good ventilation system (a fan
placed by an open window to supply fresh air works great!) allows an
average yield of 75gr (approx. 3 ounces) up to 125gr (approx .5 ounces)
of buds per plant, while the outdoor varieties are showing potential
yield from 250gr up to half kilo of stinky buds per plant.

Geographic
provenance of marijuana strains
Marijuana,
Cannabis sativa L., is an annual plant that was thought in the past
being a member of the great family of the Urticaceae; today the plant is
more specifically classified as a kind of the Cannabinaceae family
alongside Humulus Lupulus l. This means that doobies and beers are
definitely related. Hemp grows from the Equator to the Sub-Arctic areas
of the world: marijuana is indeed a wild grass "domesticated"
by man for his various needs. A remarkable amount of intense light is
required in order to grow and bloom properly: that's why in nature Ganja
propagation occurs on the side of the rivers and in every exposed, sunny
place; at present time, people are growing Cannabis in the smallest site
they can put toghether at home. The most common handbooks of gardening
will help you to figure out the basics of horticulture, after having
revised quickly such literature you will explore in depth the world of
indoor cannabis growing.
All modern marijuana hybrids derive from seeds coming from the following
region of Origin(landraces list follows):
a) Brazil (0° to 30° south latitude). Strain:
Brazilian Lemons (Sativa), the local "Maconha" also called
"diamba" in Yoruba, the African-Brazilian language spoken by
Candomblθ communities in Recife. In Brazil it's also widespread a
Paraguayan weed type named "Faso".
b) Colombia (Equator).
Strains: Punta Roja (Purple tops), Cali Hills, Choco, Lowland, Santa
Marta Gold and Panama Gold (Sativa).
c) Congo (Equator).
Strain: Local marijuana (Sativa)
d) Afghanistan
and Pakistan (30°
to 37° North latitude). Strains: all deriving names from regions of Origin: Hash plants
Mazar-i-Sharif, Kandahaar, Citral e Hindu Kush are types of cannabis
Indica-Afganica grown for hashish production.
e) Southern
India (10°
to 20° latitude North). Tropical. Strain: Ganja from Kerala, Madras and Mysore (Sativa).
f) Jamaica (18°
North latitude). Tropical. Strain: local hybrids of Caribbean, Colombian and Mexican strains
imported into the island (Sativa).
g) Kenya (Equator). Strain:
Marijuana from Kisumu (Sativa).
h) Lebanon (34°
North latitude). Temperate. Strain: Hash plant (Indica) related to Hindu Kush
strain.
i) Malawi (Equator).
Strain: potent Marijuana local (Sativa).
j) Mexico (15°
to 27° North latitude). Subtropical. Strain: Chapanera,
Guerrera, Nayarit, Michoacan, Oaxaca,
Acapulco Gold e Yucatan Gold (Sativa).
k) Rif
Mountains valleys,
Morocco (35°
North latitude). Temperate. Strain: Hash plant related to Hindu Kush and Lebanon (Indica).
l) Nepal (26°
to 30° North latitude). Subtropical. Strain: typical indigenous hash plant (Indica).
m) Russia (35°
to 60° latitude North).
Temperate and Arctic. Strain: Cannabis spontanica, Strain: Ruderalis.
n) South
Africa (22°
to 35° south latitude).
Temperate. Strain: Dagga, local spontanica (Sativa).
o) Southeast
Asia (10°
to 20° North latitude). Subtropical. Strain: Cambodian,
Laotian, Thai and Vietnamese (Sativa).

Sexual
differentiation
Cannabis
in temperate climates begin to show his sexual identity by the
end of July (end of January in the southern hemisphere) in
different dates according to the varieties, Marijuana being
the resinous flower of female cannabis plants intended for
seed production, in absence of pollen buds turns out pure
sensimilla weed and is gentle and sweet to smoke. It is very
important to get rid of male plants on time, as they are
unwanted pollen carriers. By the early flowering stage male
cannabis, if compared to female's, shows quite a different
structure but the characteristic excrescencies would be the
sex indicator (see picture): this are called primordia and
will emerge by the side of the third or fourth internodes in
the main stem. Female cannabis are completely revealed when
the characteristic "V" shaped pistils become visible,
all this to a close observation. Outdoors males will uncover
themselvesapproximately three weeks before the females,
indoors sexing of both males and females happens within a week
to ten days according to the variety. We've heard of urban
legends about environmental conditions, age of seeds, added
chemicals and even lunar stages having an influence on sexual
differentiation of Cannabis; you might take note of those
suggestions as personal communications, but a good handbook or
an internet surf works the best if you lack in experience when
sexing.
We want to remind that Dutch seed banks have recently placed
on the market seeds promising a 99,9% female offspring, the
innovation brought by these feminised Cannabis seeds is: no
bother of getting rid of the males; expect higher prices. All
female varieties are unique breeds conceived for the
marijuana-cash crop market to help the home grower to cope
with clone-like seeds avoiding the sexing procedure (see
bottom of catalogue)

HAZE
(O/I)
Origin: California (USA) /Jamaica
|
|

|
Haze
is a late sativa from America, generally agreed by experts to
be the best pot in the world in terms of long lasting
enjoyable side effects. Very popular in the 70's, Haze nearly
became extinct in recent years as growers switched to easier
varieties. We managed to rescue a few viable seeds from one of
the last Haze crop grown in America and employ them to create
some outstanding hybrids. Haze is known for an extreme sharp
taste. The fragrance is complex and deep with a dry flowery
perfume over an earthy base. When intercrossed with other
cannabis strains, Haze adds fascinating notes of strength and
compactness to the breed, as well as the enhancement of the
high; being a late bloomer, Haze will give the most producing
crop in terms of weight.
